Played about an hour and a half, just past the first dungeon. It's quite fun so far, but MAN...this game is painful to look at. I seriously was tweaking my TV adjustments and rechecking the connections wondering if that's really how the game looks. I mean...there are probably 20 or so last-gen games I can immediately think of that look better. Next time they should stick to cel shading or cartoon style, because "realistic" just isn't going to fly on this machine.

haven't you seen the screenshots comparing composite and component?! it's pretty laughable in terms of graphics.

It's a GameCube port, they didn't tweak the graphics much at all.

Nintendo really fucked up with the whole component cable thing. The packed-in composites are pretty bad for hdtvs.

you can only order the components from nintendo or online only right?  haven't seen any store carry one yet.

23-24 hours in and I've only cleared the 4th dungeon and started working towards the next one for a bit. This game is freakin massive.

In all honesty, I've been too wrapped up in the game itself not even caring about how "up to date" the graphics are or aren't. It's just too much damn fun. I'm about to hit the 30 hour mark and I just made it to the 6th dungeon.

Just wondering what teh Component Cable thing is all about since i am probly gonna be finally buying a Wii tomorrow (can't wait!) Does it just tweak the graphics up a bit?

if you have an hdtv...component cables allow you to play games in progressive scan.  textures would look sharper and clearer and less blurry.  not all games support progressive scan tho and not all tv's do either.  so make sure your tv does before buying the cables.

I got a question to anyone whose played zelda or is atm, I am a bit past the bit where the guys kidnap colin and make u chase him on the hyrule field and when i first attempted this i dismounted and attacked the guys to kill them once i got knocked off, when i was down there killing them my shiled copped one too many fire arrows on it and burned up. Is there anyway i can get a new shield soon like an upgrade or am i shieldless for a while?

You don't have to dismount, I actually don't advise it. You can just run by them on Epona and slash away. You want to cut off the main "boss" and attack him, don't chase him from behind you won't get anywhere.

I believe you'll be able to purchase the regular shield from Malo's shop when it opens in Kakariko village. I don't remember when it becomes available but I know I had it before I did the Death Mountain dungeon.

Yeh i figured that out AFTER i lost my shield haha, but it didnt twig to reload and do it again o well

I had a hard time finding them too. I eventually managed to get the employee list from a friend at work since we do some business with them... anyway, I bought the component cable for the gamecube in order to get 420p from Zelda Windwaker on my 42" plasma and it looks great. Unfortunately I haven't bought any current-gen systems yet but if you plan on getting any games that support it, and you have the right tv, I definitely recommend it. Anyway, here are the nintendo store prices - should hopefully be comparable to ebay prices.

hehe so i found a couple wiis at my gamestop but cheaped out and bought a used gamecube instead.  figure the only game i wanted to play was zelda so this way was much cheaper.  meybe when a new mario and metroid show up ill pop for a wii.  but damn zelda is a fun game.  i forgot how much satisifaction you get when you finally figure out how to get x item or open x door.  ahahah.  very fun game indeed.
