ouch, that install twice only is a lawsuit waiting to happen especially since it wasn't explicitly spelled out how to avoid it from happening.  according to the forum chick you need to uninstall first before reinstalling the game or else the security dealy counts it as another install, but no where on the box or manual does it spell that out for the user.  bullshit thing is the thief that steals the game pops in a crack and avoids this problem all together.  the widescreen thing definately needs to be fixed as everything just looks very zoomed in...so much so it gets me dizzy and i never get dizzy playing these type of games.  overall though i think i got lucky.  everythings up and running and once they get that ws issue fixed the game will be close to perfect.

there's no actual equip of the fly type of option. you have to go to the machine that offers them or something from what I remember one of the help things saying.

You have to go to a gene bank to swap out different plasmids.  One of the tips said you could get more slots at the gatherer's garden, but I don't know how.

gg even though bioshock works for me i don't think i'm going to be buying another game from 2k.  that securom bs is worse than stardock...at least stardock told you it was going to dump a buncha crap on your pc...securom sorta ninjaed it all in...and apparantely their install/uninstall to get around the 2 max install was bullshit to buy time or something.  from an editor at pcgamer

Yesterday began as a joyous day. By the whim of the mailroom gods, my copy of BioShock was the first to arrive at my desk. After I finished dancing around the room rubbing it in everyone's face, we needed to install it on a DX9 and a DX10 machine to compare.

"But wait," I said. "This product requires activation. What if, by installing it here, I cripple my copy and am unable to play from home? "So Greg called the 2K support line and talked to a support rep, who told him that it would be fine as long as we uninstalled the game before installing it on another machine. Ok, that's fine... a little annoying considering the game also has a DVD check to make sure the disc is in the drive, but I can handle that.

So we installed on one machine, then uninstalled and installed on another with no problems. So far, so good. I got in about an hour of play time, but I do the majority of my game playing at home, where I've got my heavy-duty gaming rig set up, so I was really looking forward to bringing it home with me. I uninstalled the game from my work machine and happily headed home...but when I got there and went to activate, I was stopped dead by a failure message that informed me I'd installed with this code one time too many. What... the... $%~&!

Ok, still not a disaster. I've had this happen with Windows XP before—all I have to do is call the number in the manual, read off the reactivation request code supplied by the activation wizard, and they'll give me an unlock code. Well, not so simple in this case—the support number for the US listed in the manual didn't work, giving me a "We cannot connect your call at this time" message. So I called the Canadian number, which went through. After four minutes on hold, I was told that the only way they'd unlock it is if I take a photo of the disc and the manual and email it to them. Wow… even Microsoft doesn’t make you do that.

Having now jumped through all their hoops hours ago, I’m currently waiting for 2K to get around to allowing me to play my legitimate copy of the game on the system of my choosing. Meanwhile, the pirates who cracked Windows Vista’s activation in a matter of days are already at work on the game, and I sincerely doubt that the BioShock copy protection wall will still be standing a week from today. And while those pirates play their ill-gotten games without a care, those of us who came by our copies legally will have to put up with draconian obstacles that will then serve no purpose whatsoever.

In a way, i don't blame them for trying new ways to thwart piracy. However, it's clear that it has always been a double-edged sword, since they are likely hurting the people who buy the game more than the people who hack the security of the game. As they have mentioned, it'll take less than a week for people to hack the security anyway. That's one of the reasons why PC gaming has gone down the shitter, and why WoW is actually one of the only survivors due to a pay to play type of service.

Sure, console games are just as easily backed up and burnable, but it requires modifications of the console that not everyone would even imagine doing to a pricey piece of hardware, which is why the console business is thriving more than the pc gaming business.

I think this very topic is why I've pretty much abandoned PC gaming. Besides WoW and a very few select PC games, I don't feel it's worth my time to deal with PC driver issues, looking for patches a week after release, or PC anti-piracy bullshit that comes packaged with nearly every PC game these days. Hell, without Blizzard, and the few remaining PC FPS dev companies out there, PC gaming would be dead already.

so anybodys 360 version blow up after being patched?  read the game stutters like mad after patching.

heard that clearing the cache might help.  hold down the right and left bumpers while the game boots up to do this.
