back in patch 0.9, i had a lvl 90ish sorc, still lvling. everyone was still doing cow runs because they were good XP and lootz.
i think i did something nuub and i died. so i went out to get my body in the cow room. when you die, the potions thats on your belt gets dumped into your inventory. any potions that do not fit, due to space, is thrown out on the floor, for free-for-all. now, there are a TON of items on the floor due to mass cow killingz. most of them are crap and not worth a second glance. but i must have clicked on an item on the ground, because when i tried to collect my body, i could not. and the equipped gear that i HAD, was also thrown on the ground. my corpse "exploded" and the gear fell out due to me "accidently" equipping a gear on the ground.
since it was a public game, some random guy picked up my lidless eye shield and occulus, two of the most popular items for a sorc. took me a 1/2 a day to get them back thru my magic-find barb, but what pissed me off was that shield had a socket that had a high lvl rune in it. and you can only socket 3 times per char thru an act 5 quest. also, there's a quest-giver that puts your name on an item, like Rhox's Arreat's Face. my occulus had my name on it too.
I kinda miss having my high lvl chars.. =\
