holy crap they're gonna pay 230 bux MORE than we do here and they're yanking out the ps2 chipset from their ps3.

It's gonna be really hard justifying buying this console. If only it didn't have MGS4 and FF13 exclusives I'd so stay away.

I'll prob wait till at least after this xmas season before deciding whether to buy it or not.

yeah i picked up one mainly as a bluray player....i've got like 3 games that i never play and like 10 movies on blu ray.  as a bluray player its pretty sweet, as a game system...welllll I'll just say I'm glad I didnt' go in wanting to buy a game system.

Well wii is really more of a party console. The PS3 at least will get some use for blueray DVD playback.

well for the wii once i'm done with zelda it turns into a dust collector.  the ps3 i bought as a cheap bluray player (well cheap in this case is relative) first and a game system 2nd.  so atm i dont' really mind that there aren't any games out because I'm using it primarily to watch movies.

Assuming the 2 formats don't catch on, I figure it'll be at least 2 or 3 years of really pushing and and at least another couple years of desparately trying so I figure I have at least 5 years worth of movies to watch.  (sorta the pattern that dvd audio and sacd followed).  atm i've pretty much stopped buying dvd's, only thing i pick up on dvd are like the simpsons and maybe some misc tv sets.  thats about it.

I like em both since both formats have movies that I wanna watch.  At the sametimes this sucks since I need both formats to watch everything I want to watch.  Ideally there should be only 1 format, easier for studios to support it and put out more and higher quality discs.  Video wise they're virtually identical.  Same movie side by side I wouldn't be able to tell one from the other.  I can't fairly compare the audio since the 360 hd drive does a shitty job outputting audio.  ps3 sounds great through a coax, it should sound even better through an hdmi or if it had 6 analog so it can output the uncompressed pcm tracks.  Hddvd had the edge in the beginning with more titles and higher quality discs, but bluray has caught up.  There are a lot of great  exclusive coming releases on bluray while the hddvd releases arent' so spectacular.  If anyone is on the fence pick the format with more movies you like and go with that.  If it dies, by that time you would have gotten your money's worth out of the machine.

i hope so!!! big mgs fan here, and i like ff although i've never sat all the way thru one lollerz.
