this post contains spoilers which you may or may not wish to know about, pertaining to this episode.  you have been warned.

compared to the "holy shit~!" episode we all saw last week, this week's wasn't as mind-bending.. but it was a good episode regardless.

Now we all know where he gets his inferiority complex: his mom.  all his life, he was told he could be something better.. that he could be more.  his mom was never satisfied w/ him being just a watch repairer. 

who the hell blows up NY?  is it sylar? peter? Spriggs?  i'm ruling out spriggs cuz he has a better control of his power than peter or sylar.  the two who can absorb powers need some time to adjust and learn themm it seems ( recall the episode where sylar gained super hearing - it took him a while to get used to it).

Hiro still has trouble doing what is necessary to save the world.  he needs to kill sylar but could not do it.  he broke his katana in the process.  (preview of next week's show, we see Hiro's father with another katana or a fixed katana of the one Sylar broke)

**side note: it was sad to see, upon close view of the katana, the one which a samurai warrior wield in battle, has no hamon.  **

one thing that puzzles me about Hiro.  he does not seem to follow his own heart in making decisions, but rather follows the actions shown in the comic book.  the act of killing sylar never crossed his mind until he was in the future and was shown the unfinished comic book of Hiro impaling sylar (or it looks like Nathan).

The storyline is so twisted now that I'm not gonna bother trying to guess what happens next.  I thought this episode was ok.  Kind of a letdown after last week's great ep.  Can't wait for next week though.

when peter told nathan about griggs coming to ny and urged him to call the fbi, he instead calls linderman. a bit later, we see the company man in nathan's office, and they said something to the extent of "why didn't you tell me this was happening?" as if it were all part of a plan. this is reinforced by nathan's mom explaining to him that presidents before have had to make hard decisions to kill millions for the greater good. i downloaded the episode and will probably watch it a little later.

I don't see how this leads you to think that it's a bomb planted by Linderman.  Linderman has collected all the paintings by Isaac and many of them show a man exploding in NY.  So they know someone is going to go nuclear but the Linderman group won't stop it.  They want it the person to blow up which will lead to Nathan getting into the White House.

Unless they have some kind of back up plan and the bomb happens to be planted under the feet of one of the 3.  This scenario doesn't seem very likely though especially since at the end of the ep, you see Peter losing control of Ted's powers.

peter thinks he's gonna blow up NY.  so he goes off in order to stop it.  Nathan then calls Linderman, "we got a problem."  nathan thinks, sacrificing his brother is part of the deal to become president..

later on in the episode, Mrs Petrolli comes into Nathans office 

"Linderman called me, he says you're getting cold feet.  It's natural for you to feel ambivalent (def.).  Nobody expects you to feel otherwise.  So I wanted to give you, perspective."

"You know about Linderman's plans?"

"Yes.  Well they aren't just Linderman's.  A lot of people put time and care into making this a reality, myself included."

"You?"

"Yes, you don't know everything about me, Nathan.  But I do know everything about you.  And I know what you are capable of."

"You think I'm a mass murderer?"

"Important men make impossible decisions.  President Truman dropped 2 atomic bombs on Japan to end World War II, killed thousands to save millions."

"That was different 'ma, we were at war.  I can't accept this."

"That is your one weakness, Nathan, you have no faith.  So how could you possibly believe this bomb could actually heal the world when you don't have faith in the idea of destiny?  Your destiny, Nathan, is to set the course of history after this unspeakable act has occured.  And people will look back on what you do as a freshman congressman from NY, and they will thank you, for your strength for your conviction for your faith.  In my day we called it being presidential.  Can you believe?  Can you be the one we need? its likely that Linderman views bomb = Nathan in the white house.  by controlling Nathan, Linderman controls one of the most powerful nations on earth.

Also, back in a conversation between Linderman and Nathan, Linderman mentions the sacrifice of the few for the betterment of the many.

Linderman might plant a bomb as a backup, incase the "Heroes" do not blow up.  To Linderman, it doesn't matter how a bomb blows up, as long as it does.

i'm thinking its probably going to be sylar being the bomb regardless of what linderman has planned. he's now found a motive to do it and he saw the future laid in front of him so he believes that he is the one anyways. all he has to do now is to go ahead and do it.

This of course means ted = dead which is probably what's going to happen anyways, since i doubt he'd be any use for season 2. oh.

i don't think they'd kill off sylar though. every comic book has the anti-hero. for the show, it's sylar. there are other possible storylines, but none of them would be as compelling and foreboding as sylar.

here's my prediction:

sylar kills reality warper chick, takes her power.
peter learns to control his power.
peter and sylar face off.
peter blows up to kill sylar.

end of season
next season, it is revealed that sylar used reality warp power to make everyone believe he is dead.
sylar kills nathan, assumes leadership position.

there are alot of heroes and one villan w/ powers.  they COULD kill off sylar and bring forth another villan.. not too hard to do..

my predictions:

Hiro gets taken to somewhere by his Dad and he trains him mentally and physically.  Hiro turns into Badass_Hiro (crossing fingers).

Hiro determines that everyone w/ powers are ebil and is now the villan... kidnaps the girl who can find anyone w/ powers and kills then off, one by one.

Sylar and Peter have their stand off and sylar gains control of Ted's powers at some point. Sylar AND Peter both blow up and Peter is the only one who survives, along with clair-bear.

sylar doesn't necessarily have to die (ted can explode without harm to himself), but i'd think they'd introduce a new 'villain' type character next season to keep it fresh. I agree sylar is a great bad guy and it will be hard to top him but like rhox said, there has to be a few more bad guys out there wanting to exploit their powers. Even one of the current "heroes' switching sides seems like a possibility. We've already seen 'dark' hiro and peter.

me and the wife talked about this, i think it was key that hiro touched him with the edge of his blade, but this is just as plausible.

i forgot about hiro, thus, i amend my prediction:

sylar, while having reality warper's powers, tricks hiro into believing that nathan is sylar and vice versa, and hiro mistakenly kills the wrong person.
