Re: Now that is fresh sushi

When I went to Kobe, we did that as well.  Damn that shit tastes hella good when it's just been freshly caught.  We made fresh eel and squid tempura.  The tentcles were still somewhat moving when we were eating them.  Uno would've been happy.

I saw a video where these guys were eating lobster tail that was just very freshly prepared.   So fresh in fact, the lobster torso and head were still moving on the diner's plate because the prepared tail was presented along with the still squirming parts.   I like sushi and I don't mind eating raw food, but I draw the line at moving, that is too creepy.   I had a japanese collegue describing eating live baby octopus and saying how you can feel the tentacles grasping at your esophagus.    That is messed up!

Laguna(no idea how it spells) beach has a sea food resturant on the sea side that serves shrimp that were peeled while its alive.  When you eat it, you can feel it still jumping inside your mouth.  You can ask them to make miso soup or deep fried with the head.

I think I know where you're talking about.  I've been wanting to go there but iirc it's pretty pricey.  Great view for a romantic dinner.
