So apparently at some point my gpu cooler's fan stopped working (I blame SC2) and I think I'm going to just pick up a new card since I'm using a galaxy 9800gt and it doesn't seem to perform as well as it should.
I'm seeing that a lot of radeon cards are being suggested over their nvidia counterparts. Any thoughts on this?
Or I could just buy a good cooler and overclock the card...

article should have benches for all the most recent cards available. not too familiar with the nvidia but if you're gonna go ati the 5850 is tough to beat or if you dont want to upgrade for a few years pop for the 5870. running a pair of 5870's at the moment and its complete overkill for 95% of the games available. 1 woulda been perfect.

Those are $300-400 each, no?

Hmm I swapped in an old zalman fan from my 7900 gs and it seems to be working idling at 45 now. I guess I'm ok for a bit until a good deal comes around, haha.
Edit: It seems to run intermittently...

I had to RMA a GTX 260 with EVGA and they ran out of stock so they sent me a GTX 460 instead. I haven't installed it yet just due to lack of time. Plan on doing so this weekend. It's a badass card.

NVIDIA gave me a 470 that I haven't installed yet. I'll let you know how good it is for SC2 when I pop that sucker in this weekend =D

There happens to be a deal on an MSI HD 5830 for $150 AR. Might pick that one up.
