Transformers

[ Edited ]
Went and saw Transformers last night. It was somewhat entertaining if you disregarded the fact it was based on the Transformers. But it was just giant robots called Transformers, and that was it. It wasn't Transformers. However, hearing Optimus Prime's voice again brought all kinds of childhood memories back. He was the icon that stood for all that was good. BUMBLEBEE IS NOT A CAMARO. There's probably going to be sequels but as a Transformers purist who still has an original die cast Optimus Prime in the attic with Omega Supreme, this movie was severely disappointing.

Re: Transformers

They gave tribute to bumblebee's true form (a vw bug iirc) at the used car place.

Also... you expected *more* from a summer movie?

Re: Transformers

figure they have some deal with chevy based on all the commercials and licensing all those cars woulda cost them a fortune. still i wanna see...looks like a good ol mindless action flick...now if they'll just do a GI JOE my childhood fantasies would be set.

Re: Transformers

I really liked the film. It was a good action flick and paid some nice homage to the original Transformers. It was hard to tell what was going on in many of the fight scenes though. I think they put too much detail into the robot forms so it became a jumbled mess when they clashed.

Re: Transformers

Just got back from it, I loved it. The shot of the Autobots on the Hoover damn from far off was pretty sweet looking and showed well they created them. I loved the action but sometimes it was confusing as to who was who, I almost got Megatron and Starscream confused on a couple of parts. Overall it was a good movie and a DVD I definatley want to pick up...I just hope the CE for the disc is well done.

Re: Transformers

I get to see this tomorrow for a company function but I'm giving serious consideration to walking out after the meeting and skipping the movie.

Transformers are not Erector sets.

Bumblebee is not a goddamned Camaro.

and Xbox 360s are NOT FUCKING TRANSFORMERS.

Even though I've not directly paid money to support the movie, I feel like my presence in the theater would be a tacit acceptance of what has been done to the franchise.
