I thought since so many of us are of the um... 'asiatic'... community, you'd appreciate some asian-sploitation (is there a word for that?).

Gonna go watch that on the 26th... we should meet up!

Should I go ahead and take the point on plans for this? If we're doing the Nuart Theater, it looks like showtimes are 730 and 950PM on Friday, October 26. I think a good plan might be:

1) some of us who can make it out, we meet for dinner somewhere nearby @745PM. This place should be very close. Never been, but good Yelp rating.

2) Then we go watch the movie @950 and those who can't get out of work early enough for dinner watch with us.

Maybe afterward we get drinks if there's a bar somewhere nearby? Or if someone knows a place to go to? Not familiar with that hood.

October 26th
Los Angeles, CA / Landmark Nuart Theatre
San Diego, CA / Landmark Ken Cinema
Santa Ana, CA / Edwards South Coast Village

all the other dates for the limited release is in other states.  so 26th is the only date that southern CA ppl can watch it.

(for the ppl in Norther CA, you can piss off... just kidding..

Cant make it for the show, going to be busy with work that night. But I should be out not to late and can meet you guys for drinks after. I know Santa Monica pretty well. There are a lot of bars in old santa monica, on main st.

I got a chance to see justin lin and sung kang during a q and a session at the berkeley showing on saturday night. They made some pretty interesting points about asian leads and asian actors in general in hollywood. The movie itself was decent and had its fair share of funny moments.

justin said the script for better luck tomorrow was shopped around various movie studios and they got an offer for a 2 mil backing if they went with a white lead. This went against their vision for the movie so a few of them went into 6 figure credit card debt to fund better luck.
