Actually, apparently that depends on the type of monitor. Some monitors (some LCDs) expend more energy showing black than showing white (apparently). Also, Blackle is an independent venture - not google-run.
Bottom line, if you’re running a PC with an LCD monitor, not only are you are not saving the environment by using Blackle, you’re actually using more electricity by using Blackle instead of Google.

not true.. i use autocad and and have used it for 5+ years.. the background is always black and i work on it 8-9 hours a day on it.
