hehe doesn't matter if they dont' get the spielberg stuff...but either way, its pretty grim for both format.  combined 300 on hd and bd sold 300k units...on dvd it sold 9 million units.

This is pretty huge for HD DVD though. Now HD-DVD has 3 exclusive content providers. Universal, Paramount and Dreamworks versus Sony (and maybe Disney? dunno)

This will definitely protract the format confusion.

yeah this will just make it worse and harder for either format to succeed...too many people not jumping in because they dont' wanna risk backing the loser, but if not enough people jump in both die.

They need a sub 200 HD player. That's really the first benchmark.

they're getting close.  i think tosh's hddvd player retails for 299...with a little digging it can prolly be found for less.  bluray is still up there as their cheap player is still 499.  i believe with these price drops lg's combo player cannot retail for 1200 or else its doomed.

I've read reports that Chinese models should be out by Christmas that meet this criterion.   Now if we can only keep our pets and children from putting the players in their mouths, they should be free from recalls.
