Images and Icons

We don't put a file size restriction on images you guys post, but if it's an animated gif that is over 500kb or maybe less, that you plan to use as an icon/avatar, I'll be inclined to switching you back to a default icon.

for example, top taggers on the front page shows your icons. if you icon is 1meg, that'll mean that the front page is +1meg, and that much slower to load.

Are there easy ways to resize an animated .gif?   Is it as easy as resizing a static one?

I believe you need a certain media editing program to resize a gif...  I can't remember what it's called at the moment.
