they decreased the dmg done by them a bit BUT.. the continual shooting while moving is huge esp if you teched up and trained faster VR.
- hit gatherers
- switch to the base when they pull away
- run out when they bring in air defense.
- repeat = much down time on resource gathering.
LOL at the nubb T player who brought in his banshee and hellions vs my VRs..
Yea they don't shoot while moving but they are allowed to be "pulled" a little bit if the other player micros the target away. They have to move some distance in order to break the beam I think.

For equal supply few units are as good as a VR but for equal cost most things beat a VR.

so i guess playing better = better defense vs zerg. when i pay attention to building placement and ramp blocking vs zerg, i survive the initial surge. i guess i just needed to play more to get the feel for the game. I never played SC1 much..
last nite, i was playing vs random. i scouted at 9/10 and see that its a zerg player. i hide my probe on the edge of his area and drop a pylon. get 2 zealots at his ramp, and he doesn't put zerglings out there.
my forge comes down, i drop 2 cannons just north of the pylon (just south of his hatchery). then i bring in 3 zealots in attemp to "rush". now i have my gateway rally point up his ramp. my zealots are faced w/ a queen and 12+ zerglings. then i proceed to "run away" to my 2 cannons. all my zealots survive and all his units are fried to a golden photon crisp. by this time i get more zealots from my area and they start to wreck everything. he surrenders. ahh sweet victory.
