World of Warcraft: Cataclysm has just been announced at BlizzCon 2009. The expansion promise to bring about a whole new adventure for World of Warcraft players as they work their way through a destroyed and changed Azeroth.
And as we announced before, Goblins and Worgen will be the new playable races. The level cap will be raised to 85, and there will be a whole new swath of raids, dungeons, and quests for everyone to enjoy. The old world raid dungeons will be revamped and deliver new heroic opportunities for players. There is a new secondary skill: Archaeology.
uh.... really?

Yaaawwwnn... hasn't everything in this game been played out already? Deathwing looks good at least. It seems like the expansions are getting smaller, I dunno, seems a bit of a lazy feature set. Maybe it will get more features as it is developed. Bring on Starcraft 2 and Diablo 3 thx.

Trust me when I say this expansion is huge.

I read a bit more from the blizzard faq and fan websites. It sounds like a complete redo of Azeroth, advancing the timeline of the universe, that is pretty cool. Looks like a good amount of the original game is being swept away instead of phased. The path of the titans alternative skill thing is interesting, not much info on it. Sounds like you get to visit elemental planes of fire, water, etc to do battle. Ragnaros is back and humping the old world tree spot or something. Deadmines is back in heroic form. Ogrimmar destroyed and rebuilt. Deathwing seems like a pretty decent main villian.
I'm glad they didn't add any classes to the game. Worgens seem cool, Goblins for horde is kinda meh. Flying mounts in Azeroth is about time. Have to see how this one goes, might be okay to level, but end game mechanics don't interest me.

it sounds interesting, the first announcement was underwhelming, but the other panels fleshed it out a bit and it's sounding more and more interesting.

ditto on this.
The SC2/battle.net stuff looks more intersting. If they can get sc2 to be more of a social experience they will hit the jackpot in terms of having the social aspect of an mmo without the general mmo retardedness.
The SC2 custom map editor is also worlds beyond anything anyone has ever released so far as well. The mod community will go crazy with that thing.

I was on briefly... I saw dorf in another guild
So, what server and guild are you guys on?

they are both on proudmoore in the guild "Just Moo It".
I joined another guild to be able to raid. My schedule is such that I can't stay up until 2am any more, so it makes it quite hard for me to play with you west coast people...
